The whales know about it, do you?

As a recognised Southern Right Whale crèche the blue water bays around Bremer Bay have been playing host to the annual migration for the last month or so. By the end of spring these gentle leviathans of the sea will leave our shores bound for the Antarctic.

The next seasonal arrivals are perhaps less gentle but no less spectacular, the Orcas will arrive at the Bremer Canyon later in the year. Naturaliste Charters can get you out there but spots are limited and sell out fast. Coinciding with the peak tourist season making your plans early is the key to avoid disappointment.

Check out this cool video footage of breaching killer whales taken at the Bremer Canyon to get an idea of what to expect, awesome stuff.

A link to “Killer Encounters”, an article written by Anna Warwick from Scoop Publishing and rich in beautiful images is a good source of information. Take a look and keep an eye out for the house (hint, the previous owners called it Varuna).
